The first thing you need to do in order to capture a lead is to engage attendees on the show floor. Walk the floor of any trade show and you will see just how poorly people are engaged. It’s shocking. Unfortunately, laziness plays a big part, but even enthusiastic and motivated booth staffers fail to engage because they don’t know how. They wind up trying to pass out tchotchkes to passerbys in hopes that they will stop.

Many people simply say the wrong thing. “May I help you,” or “can I show you ______,” are popular opening lines which are often met with a simple, “no”. This leaves the booth staffer with no connection and no prospect.
